Spring Seminar -- February
26, 27 & 28
We weren't sure whether we should
call this seminar a WINTER or SPRING seminar given the late
February date. Even knowing that snow and cold will still
probably be in the weather forecast for the end of February,
we decided to go with the more hopeful Spring title for this
seminar. You can call it whatever you want to, just be sure
to plan to join us for a fun time of quilting.
All of us at Quintessential Quilts
are excited to welcome teacher Jan Krueger for this event.
Beyond developing patterns, Jan applies her more than 25
years experience in the fabric arts to offer patchwork
classes and lectures for both guilds and shops. Her timeless
concepts and techniques-inspired by long time mentor Mary
Ellen Hopkins- bring satisfaction and ensure success for
quilters of all levels, beginners to experts.
Jan is providing instructions and
tips for making the seminar project Almost Twilight - a
striking unpublished quilt designed by Sandy Heminger,
Akron, Ohio for the quilter who is a little beyond beginner.
You will strip piece, learn 3-D Connectors and finish with a
piano key border. Jan will be there to teach you each step
and answer any questions along the way. Your fabric choices
determine a contemporary or traditional look. High contrast
stars set off your design. Precutting is suggested. You will
make excellent progress on a lap, wall hanging or bed sized
quilt during this weekend seminar.

QQ's Quilters Delightful
Cookbook
So many of you bring the most
delicious dishes, desserts, beverages and snacks to your
classes. We often hear "can I get that recipe?" so we've
decided it's time to put together a cookbook. If you have a
favorite recipe you would like to share with fellow
quilters, we can make it happen.
Drop off, mail or email your
recipe(s) - as many as you wish to share - and we will put
them together in a cookbook available in 2011.

longer quilt-as-you-go jacket? This one is 29" long, has a
button front, open lapels & large pockets-perfect for
both casual or dress. Slimming lines & belted back gives
it flare. Requires intermediate sewing skills. Pattern
required. Fee: $50 for 2 sessions
"Quilting Football League"
is Back
No, you don't need to know
anything about football! This program is designed to bring
quilters and quilt shops together for fun, quilting,
classes, charity, travel & discounts.
The Quilting Football League (QFL)
started in 2007 in Wisconsin with a group of 6 shops. In
2009 more than 50 shops in 3 states joined the fun. This
season, the QFL is going national! All registered players
will have a chance to win many prices offered by QFL
Management. Here are some of the prizes:
¨ What a Deal Purse Cards:
Starting in April 2010 2 lucky players will win a set each
month. Make hundreds of different purses from this set of
cards (Retail value $19.99).
¨ Fat Quarters: At season end
(August 31, 2010) 25 lucky players will win 25 Fat Quarters

¨ Gas Cards: 10 lucky players

Back by popular demand...again!
This sampler quilt blocks are set with star and rail fence
blocks. It's easy to participate in this fun quilting
opportunity. First you call QQ to sign up ASAP because space
is limited. Then you visit the shop each month to purchase a
$1.00 block kit.
On your first visit to QQ you will
purchase a package of Thangles (used to make all your
blocks). You will also receive your first block kit for
$1.00. Each block kit includes two strips of pre-cut fabric
and the directions for making that month's block. It's that
easy!

Reedsburg Hospital Emergency Room
Children Blankets
We are now collecting heart-made
blankets and quilts for children. Our goal is to have every
child coming into the Reedsburg Emergency Room receive a
cuddle blanket or quilt.

Our teachers also often wish they
knew what you most wanted to learn. So, if you see something
in the shop or have a particular quilting skill that you
really want to learn, talk to your quilting friends, gather
